Syracuse, N.Y. — A new store is opening in downtown Syracuse with a focus on women’s clothing and accessories plus home décor.
The store is a combination of Showoffs Boutique, a longtime downtown Syracuse retailer, and Scottie D’s Pop Up Shop.
Showoffs has been owned for years by Kellie Williams. She and Scottie Dunseath, the owner of Scottie D’s, have known each for years and worked frequently together on events in the past.
Dunseath previously worked in retail and appeared regularly on NewsChannel 9′s “Bridge Street” and on radio station Sunny 102 with fashion and lifestyle tips and advice.
Their new store opens today at 216 W. Genesee St.
Showoffs will continue its focus on women’s clothing and accessories. Scottie D’s will focus on home décor, accessories, barware and more.
Williams said she and Dunseath want to spread the concept to other cities if it’s successful.
“Right now we’re here,” she said. “We’re navigating through the unknown.”
Showoffs was previously located in space shared with Projex214 at 214 W. Jefferson St. in Armory Square. The lease there was ending and Williams said she was hesitant to sign a new long-term lease now with the continued uncertainty caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
She and Dunseath decided to do something new together instead.
Projex214 recently relocated to a new site as well.
Williams and Dunseath plan to offer private shopping by appointment and virtual shopping. Customers will also be able to place advance orders for items.
Dunseath said he and Williams saw a demand in the market for beautiful products that are easy to shop for.
“We saw that void and wanted to fill that void,” he said. “People still need to shop.”
