5 keys to next-generation IC packaging design

For many applications, next generation IC packaging is the best path to achieve silicon scaling, functional density, and heterogeneous integration while reducing the overall package size. Heterogeneous and homogeneous integration offer a path to enhanced device functionality, faster time-to-market, and silicon yield resiliency.

Multiple integration technology platforms have emerged that allow for cost, size, performance, and power optimizations that satisfy the need of multiple markets, such as mobile computing, automotive, 5G, artificial intelligence (AI), augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR), high-performance computing (HPC), IoT, medical, and aerospace.

However, these packages present unique challenges for traditional package design tools and methodologies. Design teams must work together to verify and optimize the entire system, not just the individual elements. Traditional IC packaging substrate design is typically very similar to a small-scale laminate and/or build-up based PCB. It is often manufactured by traditional PCB fabricators and usually designed with modified PCB tools.

How to Use Color and Pattern to Design a Calmer Bedroom

If there’s one feeling most of us wish our bedrooms evoked—especially now—it’s calm. “We want our bedrooms to be a retreat, a place to relax,” explains designer and artist Rebecca Atwood. So how do you design your way to a bedroom that helps you stop the stressing (and the scrolling) and actually get a restful night’s sleep? Rebecca Atwood and interior designer Kate Hamilton Gray showed us how it’s done by designing the main bedroom in the 2020 Real Simple Home. The end result: a soothing sleep oasis full of pattern, texture, and a borrowed-from-nature color palette. In need of our own sleep sanctuaries, we reached out to the design duo for their tips on creating a calmer bedroom. Here’s how to design your way to better sleep.

Your Bedroom And You: How Can You Make The Ideal Sanctuary?

Every part of your home should reflect you. If you are the quiet type, the colours you use, the design of your furniture, the interior décor should not call, forcefully, for attention. Instead, with quiet grace, they should etch themselves into the minds of visitors. And if you have a vibrant personality, you may go for loud designs and décor. No matter what you are, it is always best for your home to reflect you.

The reason for that is not far-fetched. Your home should be a haven of rest and comfort from the bustle and hustle of life. It should make you feel safe, and you can only feel safe if you are in your comfort zone. If your home goes against the ideals that you hold dear to your heart, you will always be frustrated and might end up hating it.

Your bedroom should be your sanctuary, so … Read More

Royole FlexPai 2 Foldable Design & Key Specs Revealed Ahead Of Launch

The Royole FlexPai 2 has just surfaced in China, and both its design and specs got revealed as part of it. The phone appeared at TENAA, which is China’s equivalent to the FCC.

Now, Royole may not be the best-known brand around, but it is the company that launched the world’s first foldable smartphone. The Royole FlexPai was the very first, commercially-available smartphone in the world.

The FlexPai 2 is expected to succeed the FlexPai, and improve in a number of key areas. The FlexPai was intriguing because it was a foldable phone, but it had a number of shortcomings.

The phone will fold outwards, it seems, unlike the Galaxy Z Fold 2

If you take a look at the images below this article, you’ll get to see the phone itself. Now, the first thing you’ll notice is that its cameras are all laced in the same vertical line. There

Take a look at a contemporary seven-bedroom Dallas home with a unique curved design

This 14,795-square-foot contemporary home was custom built for owners Darren and Amy Kozelsky. Darren’s name might resonate with country music fans. The home was designed by architect Lionel Morrison.

The home, built in 2007 on nearly two acres in the Hillcrest Estates neighborhood, has seven bedrooms, eight bathrooms and four half-bathrooms. The home was updated recently, including adjustments to the kitchen and living room to create an open floor plan and a fireplace was added.

The unique, curved design of the home envelopes an infinity pool that sits off of a wrap-around back patio. The pool is visible from multiple points in the home, through the large floor-to-ceiling windows on the first and second floors.

Listing agent Amy Detwiler said that, during initial planning meetings with the architect, the owners chose this curved layout over another option because they liked how it worked with the corner lot.

“It’s modern, and

The future is now, in Walker Art Center’s visionary new design exhibit

The year is 2115, and the internet is finite. In a futuristic Lagos, Nigeria, everything requires a legal online presence, from going to the doctor to running for political office. Data is the most valuable commodity. One day, a woman discovers an illegal botanical garden in the back of a warehouse, where she and others pay to disconnect from the internet.

This is “Offline,” a video by Nigerian-born, Brooklyn-based artist Olalekan Jeyifous and Lagos-based writer/editor Wale Lawal — one of 74 projects in the ambitious new exhibition “Designs for Different Futures,” at Walker Art Center.

A collaboration by the Walker, the Philadelphia Museum of Art and the Art Institute of Chicago, the show premiered last October in Philadelphia. Because of scheduling conflicts caused by the pandemic, it will not travel to Chicago, instead getting an extended stay here through April 11.

The huge show, which includes the work of 155
